Product Datasheet · Model VTI-TS-22
Engineered for continuous thermal monitoring (CTM) of medium-voltage switchgear busbars, circuit breaker tulip contacts, and cable terminations. Harvests energy directly from conductor current (≥ 1 A) — 100% battery-free, zero maintenance.
Note on naming: The VTI-TS series was previously catalogued as the TBR22 series; VTI-TS-22 corresponds to the former TBR22 / TBR22-ST designation.
VTI-TS-22 clamp-on sensor clamped on copper conductor
Direct answer. The VTI-TS-22 is a battery-free, self-powered wireless contact temperature sensor specifically optimized for metal-enclosed switchgear (≤ 52 kV) and indoor substation applications. It begins continuous reporting from ≥ 1 A of primary conductor current, measures temperatures from −40 to +125 °C with ±0.2 °C accuracy (−10 to +65 °C), and transmits over 2.4 GHz Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) up to approximately 100 m to the GW22 / GW22-D gateway.
The unit has been type-tested to 500 kV with a partial discharge of 8.7 pC and lightning impulse withstand of −1500 kV, mapped clause-by-clause against IEEE Std 2969-2025 and CIGRE Technical Brochure 999 Table 2.8-1.
Harvests operating power via built-in current transformer. Stays alive on lightly loaded feeders and off-peak night cycles where other sensors shut down.
Tested at independent high-voltage laboratories up to 500 kV with 8.7 pC partial discharge (< 10 pC acceptance) and −1500 kV impulse withstand.
Eliminates periodic switchgear outages and arc-flash exposure required to replace coin cells across hundreds of panels.
Direct contact thermistor measurement across −10 to +65 °C (±0.5 °C full range −40 to +125 °C) for true phase-to-phase ΔT trending.
EIRP 6 dBm wireless reporting penetrates switchgear enclosure seams to external GW22 gateway mounted on panel face or DIN rail.
Clamp-on design with magnetic locking straps and stainless ties; installed strictly when the circuit is isolated, earthed and proved dead.
